Department of Forest Engineering and Department of Forestry Product ChemistryofZhejiang A&F University werebothfounded in 1958, then they merged to be the Department of Forest Product Industry in September 1986, then it was renamed as School of Engineering in January 2002.

There arethree disciplines in School of Engineering, including Forestry Engineering (Provincial first-level discipline-class A), Agricultural Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Total enrollment of 1770 students, including 1516 undergraduate students and 254 graduate students.

Theschool has 105 faculty members and staff, including 21 professors, 28 associate professors. Among the faculty members there are:

three Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Teams,

two academicians of International Academy of Wood Science,

one young“ Changjiang Scholar”,

one Young and middle-aged leading scientist, engineer and innovator of the Ministry of Science and Technology,

The school now hasfour undergraduate majors, including Wood science and engineering,Mechanical design,manufacturing and automation,Polymer Materials and Engineering，Wood Science and Engineering(Interior & Furniture Design).Among these, Wood Science and Engineering isa national first-class undergraduate major construction point, state-level characteristic major, provincial superior major, and also the national first batch of top-notch innovative "excellent agricultural and forestry personnel education training plan" reform pilot major. This major has passed through SWST international professional certification. Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation is a provincial first-class professional construction point, provincial key construction and newly developed characteristic major.

Research centers and platforms

School of engineering hasmany researches centers and platforms, includinga National Engineering and Technology Research Center of Wood-based Resources Comprehensive Utilization, Forestry Engineering the Provincial first-level discipline (class A), and provincial level research centers including2011 Collaborative Innovation Center of Zhejiang Province for Bamboo Resources and Utilization,Scientific and technological innovation service platform of Zhejiang province for wood processing industry,Zhejiang key laboratory of wood science and technology,Subtropical forest resource cultivation and utilization innovation base and so on.

It has about 10,000 square meters of teaching and research building spacewithequipment worth over RMB 70 million. At present, the school has 41 off-campus teaching and research practice bases, and 4 bases for students innovation.
